1. Unit 1 in Mathletics is now open. Your child's username and password are taped to their homework folder. Please let me know if you are having difficulty logging in. You may need to download the Mathletics App if your child is using an iPad.
2. Your child has recieved a list of sight words that they need to practice a few minutes every day. Making flashcards for the more challenging words is a great idea. A new list of sightwords will go home once the old list has been mastered.
3. Last week's homework has been returned. If time permits, review it with your child for feedback.
4. Four new reading books have been assigned. Again, please contact me if the books are too easy or too challenging for your child. These books can be reread several time for fluency. Some parents have asked about Raz-Kids, an online reading program. Raz-Kids hasn't been set up yet but your child 's kindergarten username and password should still work in the meantime.
This week, the first grade program is in full swing which now includes writing short stories, sustained reading, reading fluently, experimenting in science, solving problems in math and learning how people get along in social studies! Thank you for all your support in helpinng your child transition from kindergarten to first grade!
