Welcome to our library! We look forward to working with your children during library lessons, and also invite you to stop by and check out books to enjoy as a family, between the hours of 7:45 and 4:00. Our digital resources are also available to you anytime, anywhere!
If you stop by the library to set up an online account for Destiny, you'll be able to place holds on books or make lists of things that interest you from home. You will also see all of the passwords for off-campus access to our databases. This will allow you to access international magazines and newspapers, as well as Portuguese and English encyclopedias and dictionaries. I'd like to particularly highlight BookFlix and Tumblebooks. Both provide audiobooks, read-alongs, ebooks, and educational videos.
BookFlix pairs popular storybooks with nonfiction books on a range of themes. For example, Curious George is paired with a nonfiction book about monkeys and Danny and the Dinosaur is paired with a nonfiction book about dinosaur tracks. The books are all read aloud, while highlighting the text for students to follow along. This is a great tool for developing fluency and increasing vocabulary.
Tumblebooks Library (grades K-5) and Tumblebooks Cloud (grades 3-8) are large collections of quality picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, and nonfiction books that can be read or listened to online.
