First Grade Walk-a-thon
On Thursday, April 13th, all first graders will complete as many laps as they can on the track to raise money for Projeto Lê Comigo, a non-profit organization that donates books to remote Brazilian schools and libraries in need. Lê Comigo was started three years ago by Graded student, Mateus Caltabiano. This week, Lê Comigo will speak to first graders about the schools they will be helping. There is also a short video about Lê Comigo which is posted to the first grade blog.
Before the walk-a-thon begins, students need to get pledges from friends and family members who will sponsor them for a certain amount of money per lap. (Most students should complete between 5 to 10 laps.) All money raised will go towards supporting Lê Comigo and shipping books to remote schools located in Brazil. Please help your child get pledges. Every first grader will participate even if they are unable to get pledges. Parents are invited to come and cheer us on or walk along with us on April 13th at 9:00 am on the track.
Please let us know if you have any questions. Pledge forms are due on or before the morning of April 13th. Then they will be tallied and returned to the students that day so they can immediately start collecting their pledges. Students will have a week to collect and bring in the money. We will also be collecting used school supplies and used children’s books in Portuguese.
