Literacy: Students will continue writing several realistic fiction books featuring the same characters. In each book of the series, their characters have different adventures and get "in and out of troubles"! Ask your child about his/her character's personality, likes, and dislikes. Henry and Mudge, Pinky and Rex, Mr. Putter and Tabby, and Annie and Snowball are some of the mentor texts used to model interesting series books.
Math: Students will work with fraction concepts, number grid puzzles, and dollars and cents notation.
Science: Through the water cycle, students will learn that matter can change by adding heat or cold. Key vocabulary includes: melting, freezing, evaporation, condensation and precipitation.
Social Studies: Students will learn about wants and needs with a focus on goods and services. They will be integrating it with math.
Portuguese: Trabalharemos na revisão e na escrita da versão final de seus textos sobre um animal ameaçado de extinção. Depois, observaremos nos livros como os ilustradores retratam cada animal e ilustraremos os nossos, levando em conta suas características.
