This week in math, students were intrigued and delighted to learn how
to use a calculator and program it do some basic functions.
During our word work block, along with practicing how to spell, read and use our "No Excuse Words" in context, students began working with a different set of words from Words Their Way. This is a developmental spelling, phonics and vocabulary program. The word each child works with from this program are different depending on the spelling stage that they are at. They practiced sorting words, focusing primarily on the patterns and features within a word.
On Friday they learned how to do a blind sort with a partner.
