Literacy: Reading Curriculum Update

Reading:
In our reading unit, students are learning that bigger books means amping up their reading power! 
They continue to work on reading with fluency and understanding literary language. They will be able to recognize literary language, understand comparisons, notice when an author is playing with words and use the whole page to figure out what a tricky phrase means. As children read longer books they are learning ways to keep track of their reading. They are using post-its and will soon work in same book partnerships to ensure comprehension.

Below are the anchor charts we use in the classroom throughout this reading unit.
