PAL
Students were excited writing and sharing about what they did on the Carnaval break. For the next weeks, we will dive into Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, watch some episodes and learn about the characters and some of the Brazilian folklore myths .
Português:
Trabalharemos com o H inicial em Português em contraste com o R (som do H em Inglês). Na semana seguinte, trabalharemos com oficina de escrita.
Reading
Nonfiction readers read to learn and grow knowledge across books by reading not just one book on a topic but several! The importance of rereading to grow more information and sharing that expertise with their learning partners will be our focus for the next weeks.
Science/Writing
Students will continue to write like scientists! Writers will be encouraged to think and rethink about their questions, hypotheses, procedures, results, and conclusions about forces and motion. Writers and scientists will investigate materials constructively during free exploration and in a guided discovery mode. Learners will also develop persistence in tackling a problem through trial and error. Exploring and describing some of the variables that influence the spinning of objects and discovering different ways to produce rotational motion will be our goals in this unit.
Math
Journal II, Unit 7
In this unit, children explore patterns to reinforce numeration skills and develop readiness for multiplication and division (doubles and halves). Computational skills are extended to addition of several 1-digit and multi- digit numbers from multiples of 10. Applications of mathematics involving the collection, representation, and interpretation of real-life data are investigated in this unit as well.
