In math students are learning about repeating patterns by using rhythm sticks. First graders can make single patterns, but in second grade we can make and identify two patterns at once. Students created simple patterns with the rhythm sticks and an additional pattern on top of it with their voices.
For example:
AAB pattern with the sticks: Floor, Floor, Sticks
AABB pattern with their voice: Hi, Hi, Bye, Bye!
It's a lot trickier than it sounds!
