In third-grade reading, students begin to acknowledge differences in the points of view of characters, including by speaking in a different voice for each character when reading dialogue aloud. This week students have learned to punctuate and use dialogue in their writing correctly. We read A Well-Mannered Young Wolf by Jean Leroy this week. The story has a surprise ending that leaves the reader guessing about what may happen next. Students took on the role of the wolf, chicken, rabbit and the boy and wrote out the dialogue between the characters based on what they thought may happen next in the story. Here are two short videos where students presented their written dialogue as a skit.
