Class of 2028: PAL updates

3rd grade PAL (Portuguese as an Additional Language) started the year with the unit “Muito Prazer?”, when they had the opportunity to know each other and find out interesting facts about their classmates, and their families as they learned and practiced new vocabulary and language structure. This has also been the time to become familiar with our class routines.
Students have also experienced some aspects of the Brazilian culture by playing games that are very popular amongst Brazilian children, like "Vampiro, Vampirão, que horas são?" and "Adoletá". Besides, they had the opportunity to try some food at the Brazilian Cultural week, as they learned about the state of Minas Gerais. Another unit of our PAL classes is the study of immigration in Brazil. Students have read and listened to stories about the first immigrants in Brazil and the formation of the Brazilian population. With our field trip to the "Museu da Imigração", students could listen to more stories about this topic, know the place where immigrants stayed when they first arrived in Brazil in the 19th and 20th centuries, and experience a "Maria Fumaça" trip, just like the immigrants did to come from Santos to São Paulo.
