Science

Students are continuing  that sound originates from a source that is vibrating and is detected at a receiver such as the human ear.  By the end of the unit students will demonstrate how sound can change in pitch and volume. We have been conducting various experiments and inquiries into sound.

Here is a link Grade 3 Sound Collection to some online resources to help students familiarize themselves with the unit. Username: graded2 password: graded

Also, here are some fun sound experiments you could do at home.

Language Arts

We are continuing our focus on fiction text with an emphasis on understanding character development. Children are  getting to know many new characters and to use important reading strategies to understand text at a much deeper level. In addition, students are reading and writing adapted fairy tales from around the world. As always, we encourage each child to maintain an active reading practice at home and for families to discuss literature on a regular basis. We are encouraging children to read more narrative, text based books as opposed to graphic novels in order to build their exposure to narrative voice and text based inferring.

Math

Please continue to review multiplication and division math facts.
