What's Going on In First Grade? Aug. 19th Curricular Update

Portuguese: Os alunos estão trabalhando a partir do tema IDENTIDADE: quem sou eu e grupos a que pertenço. A partir do tema, selecionamos leituras para cada dia e eles registram suas especificidades em trabalhos que formarão um livro.

Science:  Students are learning about magnets.  Our inquiry questions are:  How do scientists learn? Why are magnets important?

Social Studies: Students are learning classroom routines and expectations.  They are understanding how to interact with others and their as a member of the classroom.  Our inquiry questions include: How do we get along?  Why do we need rules?

Math:  Students are counting on number lines, comparing numbers and learning how to collect data using tally marks.

Literacy: Students are learning how to choose just right books.  They are reading independently and to a partner.  Students have started to write personal narratives.
