Dear Families,
This school year we will use a completely individualized learning tool called Skills Navigator. "Skills Nav" is an area of the NWEA's assessments also known as Measures of Academic Progress (MAP).
"Skills Nav" has been designed to "identify the skills students are ready to learn—on, above, or below grade level; check for evidence of learning progress and skills mastery; complement curriculum with resources that help students practice missing skills".
"Skills Nav" is a personalized learning tool where data is collected to drive individualized instruction. It is also adaptive, which means the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers all the previous questions.
We will assign individual "missions" depending on practice and mastery levels. The missions will be assigned for homework. The math homework expectation will be 15 to 20 mins. of Skills Nav. from Monday to Thursday, beginning August 20, 2018.
Since the assignments are so individualized, I highly encourage you to support your child by sustaining a consistent homework routine. The login and password information can be found in your child’s agenda. Here is the student link: skillsnav.mapnwea.org

Thank you,
The 3rd-grade Team
