Ms. Murphy Week 5 Distance Learning

 Dear Parents,

I hope you had a restful four day weekend. Last week in our Zoom meetings your child shared their Market Place Commercial and their Informational Writing. The setting may be different but each child was able to share and take the well deserved moment to to be proud of their work.

As the fifth week of distance learning starts the beginning of new units. In Literacy we are starting our Literary Essay. During this unit we will be focusing on books written by the author Patricia Polacco and a significant focus will be placed on  the themes in her books. Your child will have the opportunity to analyze one of her books and write a literary essay.  

Last week we started our fraction unit. Students will be completing their work and exit tickets on a program called Kami. This allows your child to annotate the text. In addition, I can comment on their work through a written or voice comment. 

Lastly, we are starting our Energy Conversion unit this week.  In the tradition setting this unit includes many hands on activities. We are researching ways to make it as hands-on as possible in a remote setting.

Please Note that students who meet on Monday and Tuesday will be scheduled to meet on Wednesday and Friday after our class Zoom meeting.
