Math: Students will begin reviewing strategies for addition and subtraction number stories.
To develop readiness for multiplication, students will continue to practice working with arrays.
To develop readiness for division, students will explore situations that require equal sharing or
making equal groups of things.

Reading: Students will begin to explore non-fiction text. We fill focus on the hard and flexible
work readers need to do as they solve tricky words, concepts, and domain-specific vocabulary
inside nonfiction reading books. We will take the time to develop an understanding of how text
features work to teach readers important and varied information about a topic. They’ll learn to read
features not only to learn from but also to check their understanding.
Science: We are diving into our Balance and Motion unit this week. Through a variety of experiments
and activities students will first learn that objects can be balanced in many ways. They will discover that
the way an object balances can be changed by counterweighting. Specific content vocabulary will be
introduced, such as: balance, arch, balance point, clothespin, counterbalance, crayfish, object, position,
stable, system, unstable, weight and wire.

questions and hypotheses, how they conduct experiments, and write about their results in lab reports.

Português - After studying the way Monteiro Lobato (a very famous Brazilian author), created his characters,
the students will work on building their own characters. They will study the author, some of his stories and
mainly "Pedrinho" and his adventures at the "Sitio do Picapau Amarelo".
